Design Background 
 
 

               An open system times for computer has come with standards conforming,

      openness and compatibility, as well as resources sharing. The pursuit of open system is

     transferability, interactive operation and easy-to-integrate. Thus, the operation

     systems, such as Windows, Linux, have been widely used and all kinds of data or files

     can be easily transferred on a compatible platform.

       However, threats to information accompany with the open system, especially the

information leak. Two methods can help avoid information leak, one is to adopt close

system, the other is to achieve physical isolation. The close system, including hardware

and software, is to be developed specifically, such as certain military weapons launch

system which is independent and incompatible to civilian usage. Apparently, the close

system is meaningless for common demands. Therefore, the physical isolation, i.e. to

seal or to destroy the terminals of computers, is widely used to limit the range of

information spreading. Although that seems to isolate the key information from external

environment, it disrupts the information sharing indeed. However, without the above

methods, the behavior of information operators cannot be entirely constrained and

information leak could be a risk at any time.

       In such a circumstance, people are trying to find a perfect isolation method to not

only ensure the information to flow and to be handled, but also limit the info spreading

within a certain range, which has been impossible before DIVER Hard Disk Computer is

created.
